Nikolaus Dolman was born in Portland, South-West Victoria and now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. Dolman deconstructs compositions from found mediums to expose the obsession, repetition and influence mass media and advertising has on our lives. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Southern Cross University, Lismore, NSW and a Masters of Art Administration from the College of Fine Arts, Sydney. Dolman manipulates imagery into forms of repetitious and tangled patterns. Much like content from a web search, his practice delves into the Infinite parameters of image reproduction and how it consumes our senses. He is interested in the spaces between art and advertising, analogue and digital representation, excess and necessity, product and production. He exerts these spaces that dictate our perceptions of the world and therefore how we position ourselves within it.
