Steve Tierney

Steve Tierney is an Australian mixed media artist and designer known for his striking collages, assembled using images cut from vintage magazines of the 40’s and 50’s. Born in 1976, Tierney grew up around the southern coastal suburbs of Sydney, Australia. His artworks initially appear as bold, pop art graphics. On further inspection they are more intricate compositions that often include text and fine details. Revealing of a deep level of thought and self-analysis, accompanied by a broader critique of popular culture and social behaviour. His passion for collecting vintage magazines and scavenging for discarded objects, along with his sense of humour, has resulted in a unique aesthetic and vision.
